Not Even an Attorney

Turns out Melina Kennedy actively deactivated her law license for nine months leading up to her decision to run for Prosecutor. Abdul from "Abdul in the Morning" from WXTN 1430 broke the story.

Kennedy was an active attorney from 1996 until September of 2004. At that point, she made the decision that she did not want to practice law in the State of Indiana anymore. So, she marked a box and paid a smaller fee to be inactive (code for not legally allowed to do any activities associated with being an attorney) Then all of a sudden, out of the blue, she reinstates her law license on June 6th 2005. I think someone was forced to renew her license and run for prosecutor.

The Kennedy camps' response to this issue . . ."It doesn't matter!" Really, that is what they think. Kennedy thinks that this is not important. If that is true, it is just another example of her inexperience.

OOPS!

That is the best response they have. This is an issue they have known about since she started running and the well thought out response is "It doesn't matter."

Who is running that train wreck???

This is too bad, but confirms what many suspected. Melina was pressed into service rather than really wanting the job of prosecutor. She is out of her depth here, but the train has already left the station. She has no experience and clearly has littleseasoning. On a related note, interestingly, the response from her campaign is completely consistant with the Peterson Administration response to everything . . . "How dare you challenge me!! I'm right and the facts don't matter."

She didn't want to practice law and deactivated... So what happens when she decides she doesn't want to be prosecutor anymore? Indy will lose again!

The reason no one reads this site is because it's not even close to accurate...she's an attorney who chose not to pay her dues and take her CLEs because at the time she wasn't practicing law...it's pretty commonplace but obviously "brody" isn't smart enough to understand how practicing the law works...

okay, well it's not at all commonplace for someone who wants to be practicing law to let that kind of thing slip. clearly she isn't interested in practicing or at least wasn't until the Mayor couldn't find anyone else to run for prosecutor. and feel free to take a glance at the post that had over 20 comments--seems like plenty of folks are reading.

the post with more than 20 comments appears to have attracted mostly people who think this blog is full of crap...so are you saying that mitch daniels, todd rokita and steve goldsmith aren't serious lawyers??? they're all inactive right now!

None of them are running for prosecutor of the largest county in Indiana. Nice try though!

This is interesting. So, we are sure that she was getting no experience in any legal sense for 9 months leading up to her running. That along with the fact that she thinks clerking gave her the ability to be a good trial lawyer is laughable!!!!

So 9 months of not being a lawyer, clerking for a court, and running the city's economy into the ground qualifies you as a good trial attorney.

this site is like the poor man's takingdownwords...you guys need to learn how to write before you try your hand at political commentary....it gets boring fast when all you do is bark like mike murphy all the time...

Ooops, Carl was busy trying to convince people the Melina Kennedy was unqualified and let a CONFESSED CRIMINAL go free. Check out this from Steve Laudig "In a Superior Court of Marion County last week a defendant was released and charges dismissed even though: a. the victim was shot in the back; b. there was a confession."

Go fight crime Carl, quit following Melina Kennedy around a parade...
