Do As I Say, Not As I Do!

Amazingly, the Democrat Majority led City-County Council decided not to raise our taxes again. This would have been about the 12th or 13th tax increase from this council. At the head of the decision not to make any increase to income tax for the county was Councilor Jackie Nytes.

Tully's Blog commented on this as well yesterday.

It is just amazing to me that Jackie Nytes is even allowed to make a determination on taxing anyone. I am hearing that her husband's business received a considerable tax abatement here in Marion County. (I will let you know more as the info comes in)

She should abstain from voting on any tax issues until her family business starts paying our local goverment the money it is due.

you mean like all the cops on the council should refrain on voting on public safety issues???

hey what do you think about jimmy bradford voting on tax issues, or any issues at all, given that his business is on city property??? and he puts out political yard signs during campaign season...

you people really need to get a better grasp on local politics! this site is getting pretty lame pretty fast...and it would be nice if you'd post something more than every couple days...

So you're criticizing Jackie Nytes and her husband for making investments in Marion County, and creating jobs? Isn't that exactly what tax abatements are for? By the way, your man Mitch got automatic abatements put into the law, so Jackie and her husband's biz could get an automatic 3-year abatement, so what are you really griping about?

I love it. Republicans against jobs. Funny. Maybe that's why the IEDC is underperforming in job creation compared even to the lowly Dept. of Commerce under O'Bannon and Kernan...!

Matt -

You know, I think it's pretty funny that on a holy weekend for many faiths, you run a post denigrating a city-councilor and her husband. Guess you must have missed that whole "build each other up, not tear each other down" sermon. Oh right, you missed services to write a snarky post.

My name is not Matt for the second time.

I am not against jobs or attacking Nytes' business.

I just think that everyone that works on the city council should have to file and make open to the public all of their financial interests in the city.

We all might understand a little better why they vote the way they do.
