Here's To You

Tully takes on City-County Council President Monroe Gray today. Gray makes a number of claims of all the great things he has done as the Council President.

Tully, in his usual fashion, holds Grays feet to the fire and points out that Gray has done nothing while in his current position.

“I had to call City-County Council President Monroe Gray the other day.”

“How could I not, after reading his laughably insincere defense/hype of his first four months as president?”

“The defense/hype ran on The Star's editorial page Monday. On the calendar, Monday was April 24. The piece would have made more sense if it had run 23 days earlier -- April Fools' Day.”

“Because this was a joke.”

“For example, in his second paragraph, Gray wrote that he took over as president in January "with the understanding that we have started to erase the stagnation and failure to act that has plagued the city for the 32 years before Democrats assumed the majority" in 2004.”

“Oh, yes, this city has been so plagued by stagnation since 1972. Yes, the '80s and '90s were cruel to Indianapolis. I think about that every time I walk Downtown and see our NBA arena, our NFL stadium, our Convention Center, our Downtown mall, our hotels and restaurants.”

I think we should give the City County Council an IQ test. The results would be scary!
